Baw, NeXT, and Smackdown
Let's get this ball rolling..
BAW (as in Raw and Bore put together) did three really notable things this week:
1) All their matches were unbelievably short (30 secs to a few mins). I think the longest was the diva's match. Sure, you can do this once or twice (that's okay) but almost every match - WTF?
2) They made Vikki Guererro GM and stated all celebrity guest hosts would no longer have any "power" (as if they really called the shots). This was pure genius as noted by all the heat she generated.
3) She "resigned" on the same night. Double WTF. My guess is (as proven on Smackdown) she never really resigned and she'll still GM next week but still... WTF are the writing team smoking? No, really!
NeXT - When they came up with the name for NXT I immediately thought of a cashier or receptionist calling "NEXT!". In terms of a TV show I can just imagine hearing the millions-and-millions of the lostinz's fans (ahem) yelling in unison, "Lets watch something else!".
This past week didn't help and here's my main beef with the show. It was a rushed job from the start to replace an already good show (ECW). There's basically only one rule - one competitor wins a WWE contract. Other than that, they're picking straws out of their *coughs*. It's like LOST all over again I tell ya. Let's see, they tried normal wrestling but that must've been too boring for the creative guys so they switched to the famous "gladiators" week, "entrepreneur" week, "obstacle course" week, and more. Literally, WTF dudes!
The biggest and latest blow to the show is eliminating Daniel Bryan (aka Bryan Danielson) from the show. Sure, last week he said, "(he) didn't deserve to be there" but he was pushed creatively from day one, the guy was THE fan favorite, and you really need fans to keep tuning it. Take note WWE, getting rid of the fan favorite will affect ratings and NOT in a good way. While this could also be a storyline (or more likely they'll find a way of bringing him back) as of right now it's all just plain... WTF.
Finally, we get to Smackdown. The golden boy of WWE. And really, there's not to gripe about. I loved the IC title win by Kofi - good match and then the subsequent stripping of his title for it to go back to Drew McIntyre. Now, Drew's not quite over as a heel and my feeling is this may have helped (but is it enough?).
The lack of big "names" is affecting the show. There were a number of "throw away" matches in the middle (Shad vs Jobber and Chavo's squash match, for example) but what I do like about SD is their emphasis on WRESTLING. Lots and lots of wrestling. Yay!
That's my rant for now. SD is still King!

Jack Swagger returned to his smiling character and I honestly prefer him like this. Hopefully, he stays this way. Frankly, the grumpy swagger just looked bored and unnatural. The smiling Jack is annoying BUT in a good way. Big Show's getting pops as a face especially for destroying Jack's championship collection and I think this feud is gold for both guys. It was still the "half-time" main event but the fans are loving it and that's a good thing!
