This Week on WWE (28/2 - 6/3)

Raw
In regards to my previous post you should know by now who the Guest Host for this year's Wrestlemania (27) is. It's none other than... Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson. Yep! You heard it here last. Good for you!

Last week on Raw, John Cena brought back his "thug-a-nomics" darkside to what I'd call a resounding success. He outdid the Rock at his own game - talking the talk, walking the walk - on a microphone. He basically owned his candy ass.

This was the John Cena I loved (in a man-ly way of course) back in the day. The one who was angry and had so much to prove. He dissed everyone to get their attention and it worked! He's not angry anymore because he's on top of his game like all the rappers out there who rapped about living in the ghetto only to make millions and live the high life so have little to be angry about anymore. That's the PG-era for ya! Anyway...

It's a week later and there's no Rock coming out to the ring (no one really believed he was back right?). Instead he's at home via satellite screaming at the top of his lungs (scaring the crap out of his neighbours in the process) to a camera about how he's insulted by what Cena said. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU... oh wait! It apparently does. IMHO the Rock's response came off as a little whiny... yes... whiny, but that's just me. This wasn't the wise-cracking Rock I saw "come back" to the WWE just days ago. It was... actually, I don't know.

Back on topic, as a pseudo-feud this will make the Miz (c) vs Cena match really interesting at Wrestlemania. I think... I hope... this will be THE main event.

The Rock will be involved, that's a given, but how? triple threat? guest referee? last minute interference? It really doesn't matter, but... The Miz will retain the championship because of it and somehow Cena and The Rock make peace (so Dwayne can go back to making movies and disappear for another 7 years). They'll both beat up the Miz so the fans can go home happy even though the heel won the main event. Done and dusted. Make it happen WWE!

If you can think of a better storyline let me know in the comments below :)

Some other stuff happened on Raw (Miz did an excellent me-too rant, he's really AWESOME on the mic) but essentially we're done here.

Smackdown
The Undertaker came out to respond to HHH's challenge to a match at Wrestlemania with a goal of breaking his "streak" (Taker has never lost a match at Wrestlemania) and, you know, this was probably the most talking I've seen Taker ever do... ever! He did a much better job of promoting their match than HHH did as well.

Here's the problem though... there's no emotion or "guts" to this feud. Why do I care? Why would Undertaker accept his challenge? Just why? At least HHH could have said he wanted to avenge his buddy HBK. Any reason? But nope, just to tick off something else on his list of achievements. Hmm, good luck with that. It's my hope that Undertaker retains.

Dear god, please let anyone... anyone... else beat The Undertaker's streak but HHH. Regards, Cliff. And yeah, how's the wife and kids?

Other (NXT, Superstars)
That other guy won NXT. What's his name, yeah, him... BUT at least there's no more NXT and now that other silly show is back. You know - Tough Enough! The one saving grace here is it's hosted by Stone Cold and has Trish Stratus as a trainer. Yes! and double yes!

Superstars. Nothing to see here. It's a throw away show for B-storylines that don't really matter. Now that there's no more ECW they spend half of it playing material from Raw and Smackdown anyway.

And now something Lenaire has just told me about but apparently... John Cena and the WWE inserted a video clip before the screening of NXT with a message for the people of Christchurch who were struck by a devastating earthquake on the 22nd of Feb. I don't know what the message was or what Cena said but just that they did it makes me appreciate that big ol' evil corporation a little more. Good on the WWE and good on John Cena!

I've been to that beautiful city twice and from the images it was hit really hard. Lots of lives were lost too. My heart goes out to you my friends as well.

Regards, Cliff
